Dorothy Alice Weaver

August 16, 1920 — July 18, 2018

Dorothy (Thompson) Weaver passed in Stillwater, Oklahoma, July 18, 2018 of natural causes at the age of 97, just four weeks shy of her 98th birthday. Arrangements are under the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church.

Dorothy was the daughter of Blanche & William Thompson and was born in Bolinger, Oklahoma, August 16, 1920. Dorothy attended school in Caney, Kansas and married Weldon W. Weaver resulting in 63 years of marriage before his death in 2001. The Weavers made their home in the Blackburn area, Pawnee County, ranching, farming and raising their family. Dorothy was a dedicated active participant in the Stillwater and Blackburn United Methodist Churches, Blackburn Cemetery Organization and various other community organizations. She was a strong adult supporter of 4-H Club and a charter member of the Blackburn Sunshine Extension Homemakers Group (established 1958) of which she was the last remaining member. In the Extension Homeworkers Group she held several leadership roles, as well as serving as County president and held the honor of being named Pawnee County Homemaker of the Year. She was a long time participant and supporter of the Pawnee County Fair. She served many years as a judge at the local fair and also judged in several other county fairs throughout her active years.

Dorothy was highly recognized for her cooking and baking. Throughout the years she was awarded many grand champion and first place ribbons from her county fair exhibits. Her specialties were cakes, pies, candies and loaves of banana nut bread. Dorothy continued to provide banana nut bread to special people and places which she delivered to them on a regular basis even into her 90’s.

She was very devoted to her family and took great pride in supporting her children, grandchildren and other family members throughout her life.

The Weavers have two daughters, Delphine Heppel and husband, Darrel of Stillwater, OK and Karen Plummer and husband Joe of Paso Robles, CA. Other descendants are: four grandchildren, Peggy Sorrell of Stillwater, Diana Jones (David) of Edmond, OK, David Plummer (Fawne) of Carrollton, TX, Jonathan Plummer (Jean) of Enterprise, OR, seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren plus other relatives and a host of friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Weaver, parents Blanche and William Thompson, brother James and sister Mildred Thompson.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to all the Administrators, staff and personnel who gave so much in providing her care and needs while she was living in Brookdale Stillwater Senior Living Solutions. Also a grateful thanks to the Physician’s Choice Hospice for the special attention and compassionate care given to Dorothy and all the family.
