He lived in Oakland for over 25 years before relocating to Stillwater, OK. Anthony attended Willow Manor and Cole Elementary Schools. He attended Lowell Middle School and received his high school diploma from McClymonds High School in 1969. While attended McClymonds, Anthony was a star on the varsity basketball team. Anthony also played varsity basketball at the University of San Francisco.
While attending the Upward Bound Program at the University of California, Berkeley, he met the love of his life, Shirley Powers, who was also a student in the same program. From that moment on, Shirley and Anthony became inseparable. It was no surprise when they married in 1974. They continued this bond for 35 years. They have four children.
Upon receiving his B.A., Anthony became a teacher at Lowell Middle School in Oakland, CA from 1975-1983. While teaching at Lowell School, he received an invitation he could not refuse: to teach English and coach basketball at Langston University in Langston, OK. Anthony and Shirley moved their family to Stillwater, OK where they made their home. After leaving Langston University, Anthony taught and coached in Stillwater and at Yale High School in Yale, OK where he retired.

Anthony leaves to mourn, his mother, Gladys Lewis-Pryor; his devoted wife, Shirley; their children, Anthony Lloyd Jr., Hayes, Kenny, and Anthea; his grandchildren, Alexys, Hayes III, Anthony Lloyd III, Aryanna, Antoine, and Preston; his brothers and sisters, Hayes Jr. (Diane), Kenneth (Kathleen), Doug Pryor, Barbara Lewis-Myers, Yvonne Pryor, and Etta Pryor; and a host of other relatives and loyal lifelong friends.
Anthony was a kind, gentle man who dedicated his life to his family. He was a man of few words, but spoke with wisdom and conviction. He enjoyed reading, writing poetry, and listening to and collecting jazz albums. Anthony had a wonderful rapport with young people and was an excellent role model for young men. Anthony had two families, his birth family and his in-laws. To his in-laws he was their son, and their brother. Anthony will be missed by all.
