Benny Allen Mott, 64, of Cushing passed away August 27, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Benny was born on April 27, 1946 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to the late Claude and Gladys Opal Mott. He graduated from high school in 1968 in Okemah, Oklahoma where he was a drummer in the band and earned the nickname of "Boom Boom". He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country for eight years with the rank of Ssgt. before returning to civilian life with an honorable discharge. He opened and operated Benny's Cafe in Okemah, OK for two years. He later worked for Snyder's IGA in Cushing as Produce Manager for six years. Later, he operated the Bushel Basket Produce in Cushing and Yale for many years. His final business venture for the past ten years was operating the bait and tackle shop in Cushing. He was a previous member of Texhoma React in Wichita Falls, TX, a CB club that focused on helping others and making new friends. His favorite hobbies were fishing, board games, chess, and visiting with friends. He loved animals his whole life and was always taking in a stray dog or cat to care for. He always tried to find something good in everyone. Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Gladys Opal Mott of Okemah, Oklahoma, and a son, Cody Lynn Mott of Cushing, Oklahoma. He is survived by a son, David A. Mott of Cushing, Oklahoma, two brothers, Buddy L. Mott and family of Cushing, Oklahoma, and Rev. Terry L. Mott and family of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He is also survived by close friend and companion Linda Bear of Cushing, Oklahoma.
