Billy Ray Henson

May 23, 1931 — February 17, 2007

Ray Henson, longtime resident of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed away February 17, 2007 at the age of 75. The husband of former mayor Mike Henson, the Couple had proudly called Stillwater home for over 45 years. Ray was a 20 year veteran of the US Army and served in both Korea and Vietnam. Many of the years he lived in Stillwater, he worked for Duncan/Akers as property manager of Casa Mia Apartments. He was a member of the Stillwater Church of Christ and particularly loved to volunteer at the west of Heaven Youth Camp. From washing dishes to cooking the morning breakfast, he was anxious to donate time and money to ensure that the kids had a great experience. Ray also was an avid supporter of the Meridian Technology Center. Although he is no longer with us, his memory and legacy will be kept alive through the friends and family he leaves behind. Mike preceded Ray in death, passing away in August of 2000. Ray is survived by three children, Andy Henson of Longview, Texas, Wren Morefield of Benton Kentucky, RayeLynn McCloud of Tulsa, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Stillwater Church of Christ, 821 North Duck St., on Tuesday, February 20th at 10:30 a.m. Kent Houck, an elder at the church and a close family friend will officiate the service. Honorary pallbearers will include Rays closest coffee buddies: Don Paulson, Richard Easter, Walter Price, John Gage, Pat Ozment and Rusty Shaw.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West of Heaven Youth Camp at P.O. Box 2168 Stillwater, Oklahoma 74076. Memorial Services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home.
