Bruce Sisson

Bruce Henry Sisson, 81, of Perkins, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Carney, Oklahoma with Brother Allen Moss officiating. Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery in Parkland, Oklahoma. A public visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, December 26, 2010 from 1:00pm to 6:00pm.
Bruce Sisson was born November 16, 1929 to Estes Andrew Sisson and Myrtle Lena (Harris) Sisson in Weleetka, Oklahoma. He attended school in Weleetka and served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. He moved to Eureka, California in 1954 and heard the faith and was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on April 4, 1954 by Brother John Rossiter in McKinleyville, California. Bruce met and married Marcia Virginia GINGER Miller on May 28, 1955. The couple lived and worked in Redding, California for several years before moving to Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Bruce continued to live and work as a custodian for the Northeastern Oklahoma State College in Tahlequah. Bruce came to visit Brother Earl Hoover and met and married the late Sister Norma (Kanady) Goff on February 25, 1990. He lived and Assembled at Stillwater Church of the Firstborn until Sister Norma passed away on April 7, 1999. He later started assembling at Carney Church of the Firstborn where he was assembling prior to his stroke on August 1, 2010.
In addition to Marcia Virginia Miller and Norma Kanady, Brother Bruce is preceded in death by his four brothers, four sisters, and his parents.
Bruce leaves behind his daughter Patty Bullard and husband George of Redding, California; Step-daughter Judy Suggs and husband Frank of Conway, South Carolina; Step-son Gary Goff of Cushing; three grandchildren BRANDY BRUSHETT-CHALFANT, JAMIE BRUSHETT, AND JOSHUA BRUSHETT; 3 step-grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother Frank Sisson and his wife Donna of Oklahoma City; brother John Sisson; and sister Fern Sandlin of Weleetka, Oklahoma, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The members of Carney Church and the family want to thank everyone that helped take care of Brother Bruce after his stroke. He will surely be missed at Carney Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carney Church of the Firstborn in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
