Bryan Smith

January 28, 1961 — October 26, 2010

Bryan George Smith left this world on October 26, 2010 to be with those loved ones who have gone before him. He was born on January 28, 1961, in Albuquerque, NM, almost arriving in the police car driven by his father in order to get to the hospital. Nevertheless, he still arrived before the doctor. He maintained his sense of humor and self throughout his 3 year battle with cancer. Besides New Mexico, he lived and worked in Maryland, Ohio, Texas, and Oklahoma. He enjoyed bowling, archery, woodworking, figuring out mechanical solutions, and fixing things. He also read sci-fi, western, military, historical, and fiction novels. He continued to explore a variety of subjects. He also enjoyed playing and talking with nieces and nephews, as long as they went home with mom and dad. Survivors include his mother, Gayle Blecha Smith Austin of Stillwater, brothers Steven B. Smith and wife Becca of Plano, TX, Mark Smith of Tulsa, sister Renee K Bock Austin of Houston, TX, aunts Patti A. Wiley of Ponca City, and Jan Dunlay and husband Dennis of Perkins, nieces and nephews Justin Haynes, James Smith, Lacey Smith, Blake Bock, Haleigh Bock, Collin Smith, Stephanie Smith, cousins Jon Dennis and wife Sonny, Michael Dunlay, Devin Dunlay, and Brett Wiley, and a great uncle Frank Blecha. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Eugene Smith, a sister, Robbie Gayle Smith, grandmother Edith Smith, grandmother Gladys Virginia Dudley Blecha, grandfather Alfred Morris Blecha, and a great uncle Kenneth Blecha. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
