Carl E. Hesser

March 22, 1940 — December 21, 2019

Carl Everett Hesser died December 21, 2019 after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a rare progressive neurological disease. Carl was born on March 22, 1940 to Mildred Marie (Upham) Hesser and Verlin Everett Hesser in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Carl went to Glencoe schools and then graduated from OSU with a General Business degree in 1965.
He married Linda Kay Theabold in 1959 and they divorced in 1969.
He entered the United States Army in 1958 and then served in the National Guard.
Carl left Stillwater and worked construction jobs from coast to coast before returning to Stillwater in 1984 when his mother was ill. He then settled in Stillwater making a home on Hesser land and built his construction business.
His love of riding cutting horses, led him to compete in NCHA competitions in Oklahoma and then nationally with a horse called Lucky Yuba.
Carl is survived by his daughters Tracy Nordquist and her husband Mark of Stillwater and Denise Hesser of Tulsa; grandson Chad Nordquist of St. Paul, Minnesota; granddaughter Erin Nordquist of Paris, France; sister Barbara Smith and her husband Jim of Stillwater; and brother David Hesser of Glencoe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many Hesser cousins.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Linda Henderson Apman and by his horse of nearly 30 years, Handy.
Carl's daughters are grateful for the acts of kindness witnessed every day while he was being cared for at Westhaven Nursing Home and for the compassionate care he received from Karman Legacy Hospice. A special thanks also for Jack Hesser who was not only Carl's cousin, but his lifelong friend.
Carl's life will be celebrated in a private family memorial at a later time, but prayers and cards are welcome.
