Celia Mae Watts died Friday, September 26, 2008 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Celia was born on June 14, 1924 in Foss, Oklahoma to James Lewis and Betty Mae (Kelly) Gaither.
Celia married William Grayson Watts on March 7, 1944 at in Chandler Oklahoma. Together they raised ten children. Mr. Watts preceded Celia in death on June 14, 1981.
Celia was a friendly, outgoing individual. She had many friends and was always happy to see them. She always had a smile and was said to have never met a stranger. She enjoyed making quilts and sewing. She also liked to work in her garden, often canning the vegetables which she raised. She worked professionally with the Oklahoma State University Food Service Division. She spent twenty six years cooking for Oklahoma State University athletes, and greatly enjoyed meeting those athletes at various places throughout Stillwater.
Celia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Grayson Watts; two daughters, Leola Fay Watts and Sandra Marie Watts and one granddaughter, Carrie Gottfried. She is also preceded in death by her five brothers; Wallace Gaither, Wilmer Gaither, Leroy Gaither, Alvin Gaither and Floyd Gaither as well as her three sisters; Violet Brake, Florence Watts and Lorene Gaither.
She is survived by her ten children: Barbara and Patrick Gabrish of Moore, Oklahoma; Patricia and Danny Langley of Ripley, OK; Shirley and Alvin Battles of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Marilyn and Michael Gay of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Carolyn Jardot of Ripley, Oklahoma; Opal and Bill Pritchett of Stillwater, Oklahoma; William L. and Kristy Watts of Ripley, Oklahoma; Rowena and Ronald Gottfried of Aztel, New Mexico; Randy Watts of Aztel, New Mexico and Edward and Rhonda Watts of Ripley, Oklahoma.
Celia is also survived by her three brothers; Lehman Gaither, Olen Gaither and Harold Gaither, and one sister, Ruby Box.
In addition to her children and siblings, Celia was loved and will be missed by her twenty-eight grandchildren, her sixty-three great grandchildren and her two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Celia Watts will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 2:00pm at the Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater.Pastor Larry Eslinger will officiate. Burial will follow immediately at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater.
The family will be present for visitation on Monday from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
