Clinton Travis Cosgrove

January 10, 1984 — January 25, 2018

Clinton Travis Cosgrove, 34, of Perry died Thursday, Jan. 25, after a brave battle with brain cancer that he fought with grace and positivity.
Clinton was born at McAlester Regional Hospital on Jan. 10, 1984, to Travis and Peggy Cosgrove. He married his soulmate Tiffany Sterling on April 10, 2010, at the Bennett Memorial Chapel on OSU’s campus.
Clinton grew up on a farm near Arpelar, where he enjoyed tinkering with tractors and playing with a long list of pets, including Biter, a dog that was much friendlier than his name.
Many friends and family remarked that Clinton was the smartest person they ever knew. Throughout high school, he rocked the academic team world. In college, he met friends who were just as nerdy (in the best way possible) as him. Think “Big Bang Theory” mixed with a splash of old country music.
Clinton was a valedictorian at Savanna High School in 2002. He graduated from Oklahoma State University summa cum laude in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in biosystems engineering and earned a Master of Science in biosystems engineering in 2009.
While at OSU, he met Tiffany in 2003. They were friends for two years before they started dating. It was obvious to family and friends that their friendship was something more.
Tiffany and Clinton could enjoy each other’s company regardless of where they were, whether it be reading together at their home or on a road trip to a Renaissance fair with friends.
Clinton helped Tiffany and his friends fall in love with one of his true passions: fireworks. Fourth of July was like a summer Christmas for Clinton. Every year, Tiffany, Clinton and their friends traveled across Oklahoma to find the loudest, brightest (usually legal), colorful explosions. And he would even buy boring Climbing Panda fireworks for his sister.
The biggest joy of Clinton’s life came on April 19, 2016, when his red-headed, adventurous daughter Kennedy Lucille was born. Up to the last day of Clinton’s life, even when his memory was fading, he woke up long enough to tickle his daughter’s belly. Brain cancer took a lot from Clinton, but it never erased his love for Kennedy.
Clinton and Tiffany moved to Perry in 2012 after Clinton was hired at Ditch Witch where he was promoted to senior design engineer, a job he loved, not just for the work, but for the people. His coworkers appreciated Clinton’s encyclopedic knowledge of random facts, and they didn’t have to Google things because Clinton generally knew. His first patent for his work at Ditch Witch is pending.
Clinton is survived by his wife, Tiffany, and daughter Kennedy and dog George, of Perry; parents Travis and Peggy, of Arpelar; sister Jaclyn and wife Tiffany Gibson, of Los Angeles; in-laws Robert and Georgie Sterling, of McLoud; sister-in-law Tabitha Sterling, of Stillwater; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many wonderful friends.
Clinton is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Preston and Faye Cosgrove; and his maternal grandparents Jack and Christine Quaid; his uncle Glenn Quaid; and uncle Dale Cosgrove.
A service for Clinton will be held Saturday, January 27 at 3pm at the First United Methodist Church in Perry. A burial service will be held Monday, January 29 at 11am at the Wardville cemetery, with a gathering at the Wardville Community Center to follow.
