Connie Jean Sharpton

November 27, 1946 — December 9, 2020

Connie Jean (Hadley) Sharpton
11/27/1946 – 12/09/2020
Connie Jean Sharpton passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at her home in Stillwater, Oklahoma surrounded by loving family members. She was born on November 27, 1946 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Oren C. and Myrtle (Gambell) Hadley.
Connie grew up and spent her adult life in the Stillwater area. She said of herself, “I didn’t hold an office. I didn’t have any kind of teacher’s degree; but I did meet up with Jesus Christ, my Lord and best friend. He let me earn a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother degree!”
She was a hard-working lady and spent most of her life doing physical labor. She worked at National Standard, Swans Hose Plant, and cleaned houses for many years. Connie was a trusted employee and many of the families she cleaned homes for became close friends.
For a time, she worked at the Champlin gas station where she worked her way up to a management position. She was definitely no stranger to hard work.
Connie loved spending time with people! She loved doing things with her family and friends especially opportunities where she could practice her hospitality and cooking skills. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee, bingo, watching OSU football, and going to the casino! She also loved to worship her Lord and Savior and celebrated her faith.
She is survived by her two sons, Doug Sharpton of Stillwater and Steven Sharpton of Preston, Minnesota. She is also survived by grandchildren, Rick Sharpton, Stillwater, Michella and husband Michael Sanders of Stillwater, Michael and wife April Bush of Broken Arrow, Jeannie Sharpton of Perkins, Valerie Graybouski of Stllwater, Cody and wife Miranda Sharpton of Texas, Kalea and husband Ray Watkins of Stillwater, Jared Sharpton of Stillwater, Tyler and wife Kim Sharpton of Carney, and Sashia Sharpton of Preston, MN; many, many great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and close friends. Although she had no living siblings, she had a dear friend, Margret Irwing whom she considered to be like her own sister.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Dale E. Sharpton, only daughter, April Michelle Putman, grandson, Adam Sharpton, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oren Hadley, nine siblings, 14 aunts and uncles, and many cousins and friends whom she was anticipating being reunited with in Heaven.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 13 from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home and is open to the public.
A celebration of Connie’s life will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Alexander officiating. Pallbearers will be Rick Sharpton, Cody Sharpton, Jared Sharpton, Tyler Sharpton, Michael Bush, and Rick Hadley. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater.
