Curtis Ray Emerson

September 3, 1954 — September 24, 2021

Curtis Ray Emerson passed at home on September 24th, 2021 surrounded by family and friends, at the age of 67 years. He was born September 3, 1954 in Duncan, OK to Jack Gene Emerson and Shirley Ellice Emerson. His childhood years took him from his birthplace to Kansas, Texas, Alabama, and back to Oklahoma where he graduated from Star Spencer High School in 1973.

Curt truly embraced the western cowboy life which was demonstrated by his attire, the amazing western décor in his home, the collection of relics he displayed that had stories to tell about his life experiences, his love for horses, as well as his joy for camping in the mountains with his buddies no matter the weather conditions. In his early adulthood years he performed in old west shootout skits at Frontier City Theme park in OKC and later in the early 90’s he joined an old west shootout group known as the Miller Gang of Yukon, OK, that performed across the state at town events and centennials. All of which contributed to his character and personality so many grew to love and admire.

Curt aka “Papaw” spent the vast majority of his life dedicating himself to a career in the oilfield, following in his father’s footsteps, working for him at Emerson Oil & Gas. Together they had owned and operated Eagle Pipe & Supply. He loyally worked for a couple different local companies over the years but remained at his lasted since 2001. He spent the last 20+ years working side by side with his great friends Ashley and Jeff Newsome at their company that is now known as Stimulation Pumping Services, LLC. Both on the job and off Curt was known for contributing or solely awarding special nicknames to everyone. He was also known for his cooking abilities and the amazing food he prepared was enjoyed by all fortunate enough to have sampled the feast.

There is a host of family and friends who will cherish their memories of time spent with their loved one gone too soon. Curt is survived by his father Jack Emerson of Henryetta, OK, siblings TJ Emerson and wife Brenda of Chandler, OK, Shelly Emerson of Morris, OK, Guy Emerson and wife Dana of Bixby, OK, and daughter Jacque Schadel ‘Goose’ and husband Mathew and Grandbaby Emersyn Ray soon to be of Glencoe, OK. He also leaves behind girlfriend Mary Lynne DeWeese, mother of his child and step-children Glenda Emerson, stepchildren Gina Nossaman and Heath Thompson, 3 step-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Mother Shirley Emerson, step-son Eric Thompson, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friend like a brother his cousin Terry Witt.
