Donald Ray Rutter, 66, passed from this life on February 25th, 2013, at
his home, surrounded by his family. His services have been entrusted to
the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and military memorial
service will be held at a later date.
Don was born in Blackwell, OK on March 26, 1946 to Donald Arthur Rutter and
Pauline Danner Rutter. His family moved to KS and TX before returning to
Blackwell where he attended Blackwell High School. Later he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country honorably for four years. Following
discharge from the military service, Mr. Rutter returned to Blackwell and
worked for the Beech Aircraft Company in Wichita, KS. In 1969, he married
his high school sweetheart, Glenda Sue Williams, and from this union was
born a son, Cory, in 1971, and a daughter, Monica, in 1974.
In the eighties, Don owned his own oilfield construction company, Don's Construction, for ten years. In 1985, the Rutter family moved to Tonkawa,
where they enjoyed water skiing, boating, fishing and spending time on Kaw
Lake. He also liked to play the slot machines at the local casinos and
hunt occasionally, but there was nothing he enjoyed more than family get-
 togethers with those he loved.
Don was generous, outgoing and loved to help others when there was a need.
On occasions he was known to be ornery, but he loved to joke, and his sense
of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Rutter was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley
Williams. He is survived by his wife, Glenda, his son, Cory and his wife,
Peggy of Greeley, CO, a daughter, Monica Dugger and her husband, James, of
Blackwell, granddaughter Darrian and grandson, Brayden and several step-
grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Darrel Rutter and
his wife Helen of Blackwell, David Rutter of Jones, OK and Gary Bell of
Trenton, GA., and many relatives and friends.
