Donna Gaye Hickey

Donna G. Hickey, 71, of Stillwater, OK died at the family residence in Stillwater on Monday, April 16, 2012.
She was born on November 15, 1940 in Enid, OK to Kenneth O. and Doris G. (Potter) Barber. At an early age, the family moved to Hennessey, OK where she began her education, graduating in the Hennessey High School Class of 1959.
She then attended Oklahoma State University and shortly thereafter married Ray C. Hickey in Stillwater on August 20, 1960.
They began their marriage as residents of Omaha, Nebraska where Ray was a member of the USAF stationed at Offutt Air Base, and Donna was a member of the research team at the University of Nebraska at Omaha Research Lab, which was instrumental in the development of the current day intravenous pump.
In 1965, the couple and their two small children moved to Stillwater, OK where she was employed at Labko Scientific.
In 1971, she began employment at the Stillwater Municipal Hospital in the accounting department, retiring from Stillwater Medical Center as Chief Accountant in 1996.
She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and was a great supporter of both the Oklahoma State and Baltimore Orioles baseball teams.
She is survived by her husband of the home; son Steve Hickey and his wife Shaun of Stillwater, daughter Gaye Lynn King and her husband Kyle of Stillwater; six grandchildren, Bryan Hickey of Las Vegas, NV, Beth Perkins of Stillwater, OK, PVT. Jacob Perkins of Ft. Benning, GA, PFC Steven Cole Hickey of Camp Red Cloud, South Korea, Brad Hickey of Stillwater, OK, and Clay Hickey of Temple, TX. One great-granddaughter, Jade Perkins of Stillwater, OK, one sister Joyce Greenhaw and her husband Bob of Enid, OK and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Kenneth Dean Barber.
Funeral services will be held at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Stillwater, OK on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Stillwater, OK. Visitation will be held on Wednesday and Thursday from 8am-8pm.
