Edward Ed Floyd Hamilton, 82, of Stillwater passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord on April 17, 2013 in Claremore, OK with his wife Carol by his side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and will be held at 10:00am on Monday, April 22 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, OK. Burial will take place later that afternoon in Keota, OK. Public visitation will be held from 12:00pm to 6:00pm on Saturday April 20 and from 1:00pm to 6:00pm on Sunday, April 21
Ed was born on October 19, 1930 in Cartersville, OK to Earl Floyd and Jennie Mae (Clawson) Hamilton. He attended schools in Cartersville and graduated from Keota High School in Keota, OK. Following his graduation, Ed enrolled at Eastern OK State University before transferring to OK State University. He met his first wife, Winona, while attending college and soon after getting married he joined the National Guard. Ed was called to active duty and served in Germany before earning an Honorable Discharge for Medical Hardship. After returning stateside, Ed welcomed the birth of his two children, Lori and Tim. He worked as a painter, a tile installer, and a car and tire salesman. The family relocated to Arkansas and then Georgia where Ed worked installing television towers and running the stations.
Ed returned to Oklahoma and settled for a short time in Cleveland, OK where he was employed by Elgin Thomas. He eventually returned to Stillwater where he owned and operated several successful companies including a guttering business and The Cue pool hall on the strip. The success of The Cue was one of Ed Hamiltons proudest accomplishments. Under his leadership, The Cue expanded and thrived, and served as a great way for Ed to encourage and mentor many teens on their road to adulthood, as well as many adults struggling with drug and alcohol dependence issues. During this time, Ed suffered a back injury that left him paralyzed in his lower extremities. He spent over 6 months in a rehab facility before fighting his way back to mobility and eventually opened a new Cue on Perkins Rd. In 2005, Ed married the love of his life, Carol Horvath. Ed and Carol got to spend 7 wonderful years together and those years were certainly the best years of both of their lives.
Ed was a kind and happy man who always had a joke, a story, and a smile on his face. He loved life and took great joy in playing Santa Clause at different functions for many years. He collected coins and John Wayne memorabilia. Eds life and personality led to him being used as a character in several western novels written by a family friend. Ed was a generous friend, a loving husband, and a patient and reliable father. His legacy of compassion will live on through the lives he impacted over the years at The Cue and the world was certainly a better place because of Ed Hamilton.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Beulah Hamilton and Wanda Jean Pucket. He is survived by his wife Carol, of the home. Four children: Lori Fassnacht of Stillwater. Tim Hamilton and wife Melinda, of Stillwater. Ken Horvath and wife Michelle, of Corona, CA. Rosalie Stallcup and husband David, of Mannford. 8 grandchildren: Tiffany Hamilton, Dustin Hamilton, Gage Hamilton, Lynn Bradshaw, Dana Stallcup, Tyler Stallcup, Rachel Horvath, and Sarah Horvath. 3 great grandchildren: Baylor, Brice and Nolan and one more on the way. He is also survived by a special brother-in-law Pat Pucket and many wonderful friends.
