Frank Turner, a longtime Yale resident, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of 81. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the First Assembly of God Church in Yale. Brother Mich Dershem and Pastor Kevin Harris will officiate. Interment will follow at Lawson Cemetery, Yale. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, Ok. Frank was born on April 30, 1929 in Yale , Oklahoma to the late Edward and Vernie (Amey) Turner. Frank married Bobbie Jean Grubb on April 30, 1950 in Yale, she preceded him in death in 1995. They were married for 45 years and together they had three children. He owned Turner Motor Company in Yale and enjoyed selling cars for over 40 years. Frank also owned several oil leases which he pumped himself, and with his son Rick, owned Universal Testing. In his younger days Frank played on one of the mens baseball teams in Yale, and more recently enjoyed watching baseball, including the Little League World Series. He learned to play the bass guitar in his 50s and played in a band for a number of years. In his free time, Frank enjoyed noodling, catching many 40 lb. catfish, mushroom hunting, picking blackberries, family get-togethers, and his annual pheasant hunt with his son, grandsons, and friends. Frank married Barbara Berger on March 7, 1997 in Yale. They enjoyed traveling, making many trips to Branson and listening to various gospel groups. Frank was recently baptized into the Church of Christ in Cleveland. Frank especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and many friends. Frank is survived by his wife Barbara of the home, daughters Karen Harris of Bixby, OK, Diane Thomas and husband Ed of Yale, daughter-in-law Cindy Turner of Yale, step-children Tonya Risewick and husband Steven of Cleveland and Jason Paul and wife Shari of Muskogee, grandchildren Terrick Turner and wife Alyssa, Tawna Turner, Tiffany Stein and husband Pete, Trenton Turner, Tori Turner, Kami Graefe and husband Kevin, Karey King and husband Brian, Kristin Holland, Kevin Harris and wife Christina, Bryan Thomas and wife Liz, Nick Thomas and wife Amanda, Megan Risewick, Riley Risewick, Emily Paul, Ashlyn Paul, Jace Paul and Tyler Plant, and twenty great grandchildren, father-in-law Vernon Berger of Cleveland, brothers-in-law Bryce Turner and wife Sue, David Berger, Robert Grubb, Kenneth Grubb and wife Mary, David Grubb and wife Vanessa, Jim Grubb, sisters-in-law Helen Turner, Donna House and husband Corky, Ann Dolan and husband Bob, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Bobbie Turner, son Rick Turner, grandson Ryan Turner, brothers Deward Turner, John Turner, Vaughn Turner, Joe Turner, Ed Turner, Fred Turner, Vernon Turner, Thelbert Porter and George Porter, sisters Mable Hayworth and Nell Patterson.
