Geneal C. Metcalf, Genny, was born April 17, 1929 to Gladys and George Thomas/Jackson, in Brigham City, Utah. Genny had 11 siblings, 5 brothers and 6 sisters. Her brothers were Eugene, David, Allan, Paul, Marvin, and sisters, Anna, Louise, Sherma, Lucille, Maxie, and Nancy.

Genny grew up in Pasadena, CA. Genny went to Pasadena Community College where she obtained an Associate Degree in nursing.

She eloped with the love of her life, Walter Fredrick Metcalf, April 19, 1946. Genny and Walter had 3 children: Wayne, Judith and Michael. Genny was a very family oriented woman, she loved spending time with her children and grand children. While her children were young she loved to take them camping and swimming.

Gennys career was a registered nurse. Most of her career she worked for Dr. Rickard as a nurse for about 25 years. Genny met many Hollywood stars while working for Dr. Rickard awhile his offices were in Hollywood, and Beverly Hills. She even followed Dr. Rickard when he moved his practice to Oakhurst, CA. Some of the stars she met while nursing included Ray Bolger, Dean Martin, Don Drysdale, Sandy Koufax and Diana Shore. After the passing of her husband, Walter, she moved to Oklahoma to be closer to her sons. Genny and Walt were so family focused that they joined the Mormon Church because they had lots of family functions. Genny later accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior while watching the 700 Club. Genny would regularly attend church with her children when she lived near them. Genny loved serving her church.

Genny had a flare for life and was a very proud woman. She was proud of her nursing accomplishments, proud of her history and loved to tell stories of her adventures to anyone she met. Genny never met a stranger. She was most proud of her family and that is made evident by the great care she took to preserve special moments she had with them through photographs and cards. She was a collector, especially of Wizard of Oz memorabilia, due to her relationship of Ray Bolger, the scarecrow. Genny loved to pamper her self with weekly nail and hair treatments. She will be remembered fondly by many for her strength, big heart, and spicy attitude.
