Harold Arland Luter

Harold Arland Luter, 81, of Red Rock, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, January14, 2015 at Perry Green Valley Nursing Home with his family by his side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perry. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Perry. Pastor Chris Short will officiate. Burial will follow at Red Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Harold was the son of Arland W. Luter and GlennaV.(Johnson) Luter Osborne. He was born June 5, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and moved with his family to Red Rock in 1939. In school, he was involved in school activities and athletics. He graduated from Red Rock high school in l951. On November 27, 1952, he and Arvella Welch were married and the couple established their home in the Red Rock community. An employee of the Red Rock Coop from 1951-60, Harold worked at the Sumner elevator in the summer of 1952. He was a United States Postal Service rural mail carrier from 1963 until his retirement in 1993. He was proud of the fact that he drove a million accident free miles on his mail route. Harold obtained his auctioneer and real estate license in 1978. He worked measuring properties for the Noble County assessor for more than a year. After retirement, he assisted with building projects at Frontier high school. He raised and raced quarter horses, was a volunteer Red Rock firefighter, and a 32nd degree Mason and was involved in the Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star in Red Rock for more than 50 years. Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a founding member of the Red Rock Sportsman"s Club. He was the "go to" person in the community when anything went wrong or someone needed help. He loved his animals. Harold enjoyed and supported sporting events with his grandchildren, relatives and community. He was a faithful blood donor his entire life. His wife, Arvella, passed away on April 14, 2002. On June 11, 2005, he and Linda Sliger Helm were married. Harold is survived by his wife, Linda of the home, two sons, Dannie Luter and his wife, Patty, Morrison, Oklahoma, and Harold "Beaver" Luter Jr. and his wife, Lisa, Ozark, Missouri; one daughter, Lisa Rupp and her husband, John, Perry, Oklahoma; two step-children, Larissa Harjo, Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Casey Ward, Derby, Kansas; two siblings Carolyn Dyson, Mt. Vernon, Missouri and John Osborne and his wife, Ruthann, San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Ryan Luter and his wife, Marcy; Dustin Luter and Regina Grimaldi: Amy Kennedy and her husband, Jason; Evan Rupp and his wife, Marsee; Justin Luter and his wife, Ashton; Lindsey Luter; step-grandchildren, Raina Harjo and Cayden Ward; and great-grandchildren, Barrett, Sloane, Ilyana, Raegan, Rhett, Tanner and Gracee. In addition to his first wife, Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Arland Luter and Glenna Luter Osborne, step-father Wesley Osborne and two sisters, Willene Mornhinweg and Glenda Lou Luter. Memorials may be made to Companion Hospice, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, earmarked for Alzheimer"s research; or Noble County FFA and 4-H programs.
