Hal Boyles, 84, of Ponca City passed from this life Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A Remembrance Reception will be held at Northeast Baptist Church of Ponca City on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 10:00AM 12 noon.
Hal was born October 8, 1928 in Ozark, Arkansas to Clyde Isaac and Thelma (Tubb) Boyles. Hal grew up and attended school in Rock Falls, Illinois. After completing his education, Hal joined the Army Air Corp, (Air Force) where he served his country for four years during WWII. After leaving the service, Hal located in Lancaster, California, where he met and married the love of his life Cynthia Sue Boyles on November 14, 1964 in Las Vegas, NV.
Hal worked as an Experimental Aviation Inspector, until his retirement in 1983. Hal was dedicated to his work, first and foremost and loved to talk about airplanes to anyone that would listen. Hal had worked on everything from the space shuttle to F-16s. He was a member of the Palmdale Masonic Lodge and Palmdale Order of Eastern Star. Hal and Sue loved traveling throughout the 50 states, also taking an Alaskan cruise and enjoying each others company during their trip to Hawaii. In 1995 Hal moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma, where he was a member of Northeast Baptist Church.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Sue Boyles of the home, three children: Ron Eastin and wife Carol of Lancaster, CA., Linda Sherrill and husband Ken of Ponca City, Ok and Dave Boyles of Springtown, TX, brothers Doug Boyles of CA. and Jay Boyles and wife Barb of Dixon, Ill., two granddaughters: Kim Newland and husband Steve of Bartlesville, OK and Debbie Garton and husband Roy of Waco, TX, four great grandchildren: John Newland, Sarah Newland, Warren Garton and Grant Garton.
Services under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
