Helen Marie English

Helen Marie Petties was born on Milsap Farm in Payne County to Raymond Petties and Carmilla (Beck) Murray on August 18, 1946. She attended school at Booker T. Washington, Stillwater, OK and graduated from C.E. Donart High School in 1964. She married Gene English in Stillwater, OK in 1968. In this union they raised her daughter, Cheryl DeNeice Petties.
She worked for several Fraternities at Oklahoma State University. She later became employed by Scott Lee owner of Excellent Ranch where she was the Lead Cook until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church and sung in the Gospel Choir. She then moved to California. She later moved back to Stillwater, OK and became a member of her brothers church, Rev. Raymond James Petties, Jr., Pastor of St. John Baptist Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Helen died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 62. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James Frazier, one sister, Phyllis Petties, grandparents and four aunts.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, DeNeice Petties and one grandson, Dushay Petties of Riverside, CA; seven sisters, Doris (Kenneth) Johnson of Stillwater, Velda Murray, Anita Murray and Pat (Stanley) Reese of Oklahoma City, OK, Annette Mixon of Drumright, OK , Erma Petties of Wichita Falls, TX, and Michelle (Rico) Jenson of Oakland, CA and two brothers, Stevie Murray and Raymond (Karolyn) Petties, Jr., of Stillwater, OK and step parents, Imogene (Irene) Murray; step mother, Marthel Petties of Stillwater, OK; two aunts, Thelma (Otis) Leitch, and Opal Gardner of Riverside, CA.; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A special friend, Thelma Elaine Harris, Tulsa, OK and Godchildren Derrick McDonald, Baltimore, MD and Rose Stewart of Stillwater, OK.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Willard Dallas and Rev. Calvin Miller officiating. Condolences may be sent using our online guestbook at www.pmcfh.com
