Jackie Jack Ray Delaney, 63 of Stillwater, OK, followed his beloved grandson Scotty into the arms of Jesus on Friday, February 08, 2013. Services will be under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perry and will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Perry First Church of the Nazarene in Perry, OK, with the Reverend Steve V. Smith officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting the public from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry, OK.
Jack was born March 10, 1949 in Ponca City, OK, the son of James Aaron Delaney and Gladys Delone Kirchner Delaney. Jack attended Ponca City Public Schools and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1967. Jack volunteered to join the United States Army September 30, 1968. He served his country as a Pioneer and Atomic Demolition Expert; he qualified as an M-14 Sharpshooter. Jack served during the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Service Medal. Following his service in Germany, he transferred to the United States Army Reserve. Staff Sergeant Jack Delaneys military career ended September 20, 1971 with an honorable character of service.
Following his Army career, Jack served as Deputy Sheriff in Marland, OK. Jack was a skilled brick mason. He worked for Conoco in the lab for a time. Jack was employed with OG&E as an operator for 15 years and never missed a day of work. He worked at National Standard for several years where he was critically injured in 2000. By the grace of God and the strength He gave, Jack survived.
Jack began a life-long commitment to the love of his life, Barbara Kay Delaney in 1977. Together, they raised their children Marci, Tracie, and Mark Delaney. Having given their lives to Christ, the couple married March 16, 1984 at St. Lukes Church of the Nazarene in Ponca City.
Jack was an avid outdoor sportsman and an expert marksman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. A hard worker, Jack enjoyed woodworking, remodeling, construction projects, and gardening. The most important interest of Jacks life was his family; he cherished time spent with his wife, three children, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his wife, Barbara, three children, Marci Delaney Bowman and husband John of Perry, Tracie Delaney Klingaman and husband Scott of Perry, Mark Delaney and wife Julie of Ponca City. Pa Jack will be missed by grandchildren, Brittaney Davis Ward and husband Frank of Perkins, Amanda Bowman, John L. Davis, J.R. Bowman, Alecia Bowman, and Brendan Klingaman of Perry, Mark Aaron (Delaney) Champlin and Cody Delaney of Ponca City, Abby Jo Keltner of Tonkawa, and great grandchildren, Kaylee Riddle, Isabella Cooksey, and Aiva Cooksey of Perry, Faith Ward of Perkins, Landon Pruett and Madalynn Champlin of Ponca City. In addition, Jack is survived by his brothers Walter Delaney and wife Carolyn of Newkirk and Buddy Delaney and wife Molly of Ponca City. Jack will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Everett Delaney and James A. Delaney, sister Linda June Delaney and his grandson Scott Scotty Riddle.
Pallbearers are grandsons Mark Aaron (Delaney) Champlin, John L. Davis, J.R. Bowman, Cody Delaney, Brendon Klingaman, and Frank Ward.
Honorary Pallbearers are Walter Delaney, Bud Delaney, Richard Delaney, Ronnie Brown, Norm Resch, Jim Kirkendall, Tommy Connelly, Jeff Rowdy Meyer and Nonnie Rowe.
The family will be at the home of Scott and Tracie Klingaman 316 2nd Street (2nd and Delaware) #6, Perry, OK.
Memorial Contributions may be made in care of the Perry Church of the Nazarene 829 Jackson, Perry, OK 73077 to provide Bibles in Jacks memory through Gideon International.
