James Lynn Becker

James (Jim) Lynn Becker, 83, passed away on April 3, 2022, while at Integris hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma with his family by his side. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, from 9am to 8pm with family greeting guests from 6-8pm at Dighton Marler Funeral Home in Perry. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church in Perry. Interment will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry. Dighton Marler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jim was born on May 29, 1938, in Goltry, Oklahoma to parents Simon and Lela Becker. Jim attended Pleasant View Country School, south of Goltry, Oklahoma in 1944. He then attended Sumner School from 1948 to 1955 and later graduated from Goltry High School in 1956. Jim and Henrietta Edgar were married on June 5, 1958 at the First Christian Church in Perry, Oklahoma and remained happily married for 63 years. On June 5, 2008, Jim and Henrietta celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home in Perry, Oklahoma hosted by their three children. Jim began his career in the oilfield for Bonray Oil Company where he worked three years. He transferred to work for Jones and Pellow Oil Company another three years before hiring on at Conoco in 1966. Jim and his family relocated several times during his 27 years with Conoco until he retired in May 1993. Shortly after retiring, Jim and Henrietta moved one more time from Richmond, Virginia back to Perry, Oklahoma where they build their home south of Perry. Jim’s favorite activities were fishing, making items using his woodcraft skills, and working outdoors. For a period of time he enjoyed taking care of his Thoroughbred race horses. He found pleasure in helping others and spending time with friends and family. Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church Perry, Oklahoma. His greatest happiness was doing anything for his wife, children, and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Lela Becker; sister, Patti Slaughter; and brother, Jack Becker, daughter-in-law Lisa Becker.

Jim is survived by his wife, Henrietta; two sons, Darrell of Marland, Oklahoma, and Roy of Lilburn, Georgia; one daughter, Dana (David) of Newcastle, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, Stacey (Jordan) Bell of Spring, Texas, James (Valerie) of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Heather (Jack) Stallings of Newcastle, Oklahoma, Tracey (Kevin) Bell of Pike Road, Alabama; 2 great grandchildren Emily Jarvis of Blanchard, Oklahoma and Maxwell Bell of Spring, Texas. Jim is also survived by two sisters, Phyllis Haskin of Cushing, Oklahoma and Mary (Bill) Overbay of Enid, Oklahoma.
