Janetta Lou Kelly, 73, a Perkins resident, passed away on March 27, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perkins and will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Perkins with Pastor Robin Foster officiating. Burial will follow at the Perkins Cemetery.
Janetta was born on March 10, 1938 to Uarda Harris and Oleta (Maddox) Harris in Gotebo, Oklahoma. She graduated valedictorian from Del City High School. Janetta spent several years as a mother and house wife before beginning her career with the Federal Aviation Administration. She worked as an administrative assistant at Tinker Air Force Base for several years. Janetta moved to Perkins in 2002 after visiting her son and daughter in law that lives here, she fell in love with Perkins. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, where she worked closely with the youth and Awannas, as well as served as the church pianist. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, shopping, and she was a very talented painter. More than anything, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Janetta was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Kelly.
Janetta is survived by her son Jimmy J. Dame, daughter Cindy L. Cook, brother Don Harris, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home from noon to 8 pm on Wednesday.
