Jerry Glenn Howell

Jerry Glenn Howell, 88, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021, at his home in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 9am to 8pm with family greeting guests from 5-7pm. Dighton Marler Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Jerry was born on February 22, 1933, in Heflin, Alabama to Hugh W. and Vida Brooks Howell. He grew up in Heflin, Alabama and graduated from Cleburne County High School in 1951 and played basketball and baseball. He then attended Jacksonville State University and attained his bachelor's degree in 1957. He was in ROTC while attending Jacksonville State. He began his first tour of duty in the United States Army. He was in the 152-tank battalion in South Korea. He also served in the Alabama National Guard until 1974. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain. He came to Stillwater, Oklahoma from Heflin, Alabama with Moore Business Forms in 1966 where he retired from on May 1, 1994. Jerry was an active member of the Stillwater Noon Lions until his health failed. He was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow. Jerry was an avid golfer, he bowled for many years, was an umpire and he coached and played baseball and softball.

He is survived by his children Courtney Williams and husband Brandon of Spring Grove, Pa., Sara Blount and husband Bill of Jacksonville, AL and Debra Howell of Jacksonville, AL. His siblings, Gene (Cookie) Howell of Maryville, TN, sister-in-law Stephanie Howell of Greeneville, TN, and his special friend of 45 years Marilyn Longan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Josh Maynard, Jessica Blount, Anna Shinn, Theo Williams and Tara Scheurich and great grandchildren Marla, Ivan, Kaitlyn, Matthew, and Haleigh.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother John M. Howell. Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.dightonmarler.com.
