John Kienholz

John Wilbert Kienholz, 85 of Perry passed from this life on February 1, 2010 at Perry Green Valley Nursing Home. John was born on April 8, 1924 in Lucien, OK to E.D. and Dorothea (Grininger) Kienholz. He attended and graduated from school in Hayward in 1942. He was a veteran of the Navy having served in WWII. On April 26, 1948 John married Etta Jane Newsom in the Lucien Methodist Church. John was a farmer and loved baling hay. He served on the Bliss Co-Op Board of Marland for 28 years, the FHA Board and was a Mason in Marland. He worked as a crop insurance adjuster as well as working in the oilfield. Some of his greatest joys came from watching his grandchildren play basketball as well as singing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden" to them. John was a member of the Ceres Christian Church and attended the Church of Christ in Perry. His hobbies included card parties and going to cattle sales. John is survived by his wife, Etta Jane of the home, 3 sons: David of Marland, Steve and his wife Denise of Red Rock, Larry and his wife Susan of Tonkawa; 4 grandchildren: Jason and his wife, Davi of Red Rock, Courtney Gurley and her husband, Steve of Sayre, Nathan of Norman, Noah of Marland and Ryan of Nebraska; and 2 great-grandchildren: Kadi and Brennon of Red Rock. He is also survived by 1 brother, James Kienholz and his wife Johnna of Oklahoma City and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Aline Hise, and Georganna Grant; and 3 brothers: Paul Kienholz, Loren Dean Kienholz and Eldon Kienholz. Services for John will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday February 5th at the Perry Church of Christ, 920 7th Street with Gerald Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6pm-8pm Thursday, February 4, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Perry Fire Department in care of Perry Funeral Home, 203 E. Fir Street, Perry, OK.
