John Raymond Lafollette

Services for Raymond (John R.) LaFollette of Perkins, Oklahoma will be held on April 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the Perkins United Methodist Church , 1005 East Kirk, Perkins , Oklahoma . Services will be officiated by Reverend Robert Cocke, Wilburton, The Reverend Steve Bredesen,Perkins and Pastor Marvin Polson. Interment will be at Perkins Cemetery immediately after the service. Friends are cordially invited to visitation at Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home, 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK, phone number (405) 372-1811. Please check with the funeral home for available times. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Steve LaFollette, Mike LaFollette, Scott LaFollette, David LaFollette, Rob LaFollette, James LaFollette and John LaFollette. Donations in lieu of flowers can directed to Judith Karman Hospice, 915 S. Main, Stillwater, OK 74074 or Perkins United Methodist Church, 1005 East Kirk, Perkins, OK 74059 in memory of Raymond LaFollette. Raymond was born in El Reno , Oklahoma on May 24, 1927 to John LaFollette and Rose (Cox) LaFollette. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Chester and Eldon LaFollette He is survived by his sister, Juanita Wilson of Claremore, Oklahoma his loving wife Eva Lee LaFollette and daughter Kaye Lynn LaFollette of the home, and four sons J.W. and wife Diane of Stillwater, Jim and wife Susan and Robert and wife Aliena of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Dan and wife Kathy of Houston, Texas. Raymond was also survived by his beloved twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. As the son of an oil field worker, Raymond lived his early years in El Reno , Davenport , and Wellston Oklahoma , and finally as a teenager moved to Perkins , Oklahoma where he met and later married the love of his life Eva Lee Westfall in 1943. After a couple years in El Reno , Oklahoma Raymond and Eva Lee moved back to Perkins where they resided for balance of their sixty-four wonderfully devoted years together. Raymond was a proud and devoted father to his five children. He had a special gift of teaching both work and life skills. He believed that integrity was the cornerstone of any relationship or deal. He also believed in the the importance of a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior. Raymond and Eva Lee gave of themselves sacrificially to meet every special family need and together thrilled in every family joy. Raymond was Popsie to twenty-five adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he taught the relationship building benefits of a little bedtime ice cream. Raymond was especially blessed by the community in which he lived. Raymond was always ready to help a neighbor or friend, but was in awe of the love extended to him and his family by the many, many friends acquired in the community of Perkins, including business patrons, business associates, church members, extended family, and neighbors. Raymond will now reside for eternity in another even more wonderful community called heaven..
Raymond was a member of the Perkins United Methodist Church wherein he served at various times as Lay Leader. He also served a few years in the local Lions Club Chapter and especially enjoyed fellow Lions. The LaFollette family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to several caregivers who so lovingly provided care these past few years.
