Joretta Gillette

Joretta Mae Gillette, 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at her home in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 1-6pm at Dighton Marler Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 11:00am at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Dighton Marler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Joretta was born on March 27, 1932, in Strong City, Oklahoma to R.L.(Bill) and Opal (Rowe) Summers. She grew up in Cheyenne and Strong City, Oklahoma and graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1950. She married Roy Joe Gillette in 1948 in Meritt, Oklahoma. Joretta grew up on ranches in western Oklahoma. She worked for Roger Mills County Assessors office in Cheyenne, Oklahoma until she moved to Stillwater in 1962 and worked for Payne County Treasurer’s office as head deputy until she became County Treasurer.
Joretta is preceded in death by her husband Roy Joe Gillette in 1983; parents, R.L.(Bill) and Opal Summers; her sister-in-law Loree Summers, and two brothers-in-law, Wayne Barber and Derald Hunt.
Joretta is survived by her daughters Sheryl Sadler and husband Gary, and Kimberly Patterson; her grandchildren Joe Sadler and wife Lisa, Jamie Sadler and Jerid Terrell, Alleyna Patterson; her great grandchildren, Casey Sadler and wife Marin, Cory Sadler and wife Shania, Carli Sadler, Makenzie Prough and husband Gage, Adeline Terrell, Madison Terrell, Jacob Terrell; her great great grandchildren, Kyler Prough, Michael Prough, Kaysen Sadler and Kinley Sadler. She is also survived by her siblings, Shirley Barber, Lois Hunt and Melvin Summers.
