Joyce Dee Konigmacher

January 10, 1949 — October 31, 2022

Joyce Dee Konigmacher, 73, passed away October 30, 2022. She is in a place where crippling pain and cancer do not exist. She can now frolic in fields of flowers and homegrown vegetables with her dogs. Cremation services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.

Born January 10, 1949 in a hospital in DC, she is preceded in death by her parents, Martin Samuel Konigmacher and Frances Lucile Moore. She leaves behind two younger siblings - her brother, Paul Konigmacher and her sister, Sandy Konigmacher. She had one niece and one nephew (Paul's children).

As a child, she and Paul would throw rotten apples at cow butts to make it look as if they'd messed themselves. Then in her 20s, she grew up and was married to Rodney Richardson and then Mike Reed. She decided marriage wasn't for her and stayed single the rest of her life. She had no children.

In 1989 she moved to Stillwater with her father and remained here until her death.

She spent the last 33 years happily working for OnCue (previously Jack Griffith's Petroleum), an organization known for employee satisfaction evidenced by many tenured staff members.

She had great love for flowers, decorative pigs, feeding birds in her yard and growing vegetables and herbs. She gave her passion for cooking to her niece.

Joyce loved asking about other people's lives but did not like talking about her own. She loved seeing pictures of other people's plantings and cooked items and was a great resource for advice on how to fix hostas her niece accidentally sprayed with weed killer.

She adored her dogs - they were her children. For years, she also kept birds - an African Gray parrot named Lucy and a few cockatiels. She trained Lucy to poop on demand and gave junk mail to her cockatiels so they could chew them and throw them off the counter.

She enjoyed covertly flipping off the camera during family photos - a trait she passed to and shared with her niece, evidenced in multiple group pictures.

Her loss will continue to be felt by those who knew and loved her. An intimate memorial service will be held at a future date.

Condolences may be sent to the family under the tribute wall tab of the obituary.
