Junior Alvin Goers

Junior Alvin Goers, 77, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Perry Memorial Hospital, Perry, Oklahoma. He was born April 3, 1934 in Bland, Missouri. On June 12, 1993 he was united to marriage to Faye (Oakley) Reid in Perry, OK. Junior retired from General Motors in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a US Air Force Veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge in St. Louis. He was a member of the Church of Christ. His favorite interests were fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Anna (Wiemann) Goers. Survivors include his wife, Faye Goers of the home, Perry, OK; two sons, James Howard Goers and wife Debbie, Steelville, MO, Allen Oakley and wife Mary, Perry, OK; one daughter, Patty Duehning and husband Larry, Perry, OK; seven grandchildren, James Alvin Goers, Michael Henry Goers, Joey Oakley, Jason Oakley, Stephanie Oakley, Darren Duehning, and Aaron Duehning; six great-grandchildren and his two dogs, Chester and Tinkerbelle. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 21, 2011 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Perry Funeral Home. Family visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, September 22, at the Church of Christ, 920 Seventh St., Perry, OK with Ministers Gerald Stewart and Mark Uhlman officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry, OK. The family suggests memorials be given to the Food Pantry Fund for either the Church of Christ or Kaw Street Chapel to benefit the Perry Community.
