Lance Lambott

Lance Leroy Lambott, 68, of Perry, Oklahoma passed away peacefully in his home on December 14, 2010. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on Thursday, December 16, at the Perry Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 pm on Friday, December 17, at the Kaw Street Chapel, in Perry. Lance was born on January 30, 1942 in Havre, Montana, to Martha Kroeker and Fred Lambott. He graduated from Chester High School, where he was a star athlete. He attended college in Montana before deciding to join the United States Navy. In 1964 he married Doris Hirst. They moved to Seattle, Washington and had two children. Lance worked as a machinist for several years before becoming a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. In April of 1982, Lance married Darla Yarborough of Orlando, Oklahoma .In 1985 they moved to Perry where they established their current home. Lance continued to carry mail for the postal service in Perry until he retired in December 2005. He loved his postal customers and until his final days on earth, could remember each name and address on his route. He was affectionately known as "Papa Mailman" by his grandchildren. Lance enjoyed watching and attending sporting events, fishing and playing board games with his family. He had an amazing sense of humor that his family loved and appreciated. His sweet smile will be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter,Tracy Lee Lambott. He is survived by his wife, Darla June, a daughter, Darla Mae (Lambott) Maynard and husband Richard of Ona, West Virginia, two step-daughters Brenda Matthews, and Amy Abraham and husband Vince; four grandchildren, Joshua Thompson and wife Jamie, Tori Manning and fianc" Rashad Atkinson, Austin North, and Tessa Thompson; two great grandchildren, Jenna Thompson and Aspen Atkinson all of Perry; one brother, Larry Lambott and wife Pam of Fort Benton, MT; and four sisters, Sue (Lambott) and husband Marty Elberof Anacortes, WA, Claudine (Broadhurst) and husband Willy Flowers of Echelson, ND, Sherrie (Wright) and husband Dave Gulick of Fairfield, MT,Tani (Wright) Duffin of Great Falls, MT and many nieces and nephews. The family asks that memorials be made to Judith Karman Hospice.
