Leonard Samuel Flora, 90 died Friday, June 15, 2007 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Southside Baptist Church in Stillwater, Ok with Reverend Wayne Sannman officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home of Stillwater, OK. Leonard was born September 9, 1916 to Melvin and Clara Flora in Clear Creek, Payne Co. Oklahoma. He grew up and attended school until the sixth grade and farmed with his parents near Blackwell Lake. He was drafted and served in WWII as a staff sergeant in the United States Army. Leonard received a Purple Heart, Silver Star and a Bronze Star an American Defense Service Ribbon a Good Conduct Medal and a Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Leonard married Beulah Mae Tatum of Pawnee in Kansas in 1946. They had three children: Sharon Geer and husband Bill, Jerel Flora and wife Karen, Brenda Mathias and husband Brad, nine grandchildren and 21 great grand children. Leonard went to work after being discharged from the military at a gas station in Pawnee, OK. He later worked in construction. In 1954 he and Beulah moved to Stillwater where he worked for the City of Stillwater Garage until he retired in 1981.
Leonard was a Christian man who loved the lord, his wife and his children and his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing horseshoes and coaching and watching his children and grandchildren play softball. Leonard was member of Southside Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Harold Flora. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Beulah Flora, his children: Sharon Geer, of Stillwater, Ok, Jerel Flora of Pawnee, Ok, Brenda Mathias, Dana Point of California, grandchildren: Christopher Geer, Shelly (Geer) Bowling, Leonard Geer, Sara Disney-Stueber, Amanda (Flora) Griffith, Haley Whitworth, Robert Geer, Connie Mills, Mary Hollander and 21 Great grandchildren.
