M.H. Eugene Williams

M. H. Eugene Williams, 84, of Red Rock entered eternal life on November 22, 2014 in Oklahoma City following a very short battle with multiple Myeloma Cancer. His loving family was by his side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Perry, OK with burial to follow at Grace Hill Cemetery. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12:00pm to 8:00pm with the family greeting friends at the funeral home from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Tuesday evening. M. H. Eugene Williams entered this world December 19, 1929 in Crescent, Oklahoma, the son of Arthur Phinnis and Beatrice (Clark) Williams. Williams was raised east of Red Rock and attended Red Rock School. He was a 1948 graduate of Red Rock High School. He began his lifelong career as a wheat farmer, cattle rancher and oil field entrepreneur at the age of 12 years old. Farming the land and dabbling in oil and gas wells was both his job and his hobby. He always said, "It"s about a little bit of luck, a lot of hard work, and a little bit of know-how." Another of his favorite sayings was, "Farming is all I"ve ever known. I was not very smart in school, but my daddy taught me how to farm and what to look for." M. H. was proud to be a farmer and even more proud that his farm turned into a multi-generational family business. On December 12, 1948 he married his wife of 65 years Lettie Ruth Cruts of Marland, Oklahoma. The couple has three sons and two daughters: Dennis, Don, Denise, Dee Ann and the late Darrell. M. H. was a kind and generous man who was well known throughout Noble County and surrounding counties. He enjoyed a good story, a good laugh and a free cup of coffee. He was a loyal supporter of the local 4-H and FFA livestock programs and rarely missed a chance to watch the students show their animals. M. H. was also a fan of stock car racing and before losing his eyesight he loved going over to Enid to watch Ross Waters and Babe Dickson compete. Following the loss of his eyesight he always looked forward to his daily back-road rides with Ron Jolley and Gale Kincaid, along with his dog, George. M.H. Williams was a man who always made his family a top priority. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. It was important to M.H. to teach his family to have the same drive and work ethic that made him the man he was. His simple life and positive attitude were a shining example of how a good life should be lived. He was a loyal husband, a supportive father, a loving grandpa, a dedicated farmer, a fair employer, and a trusted friend. His legacy of selflessness and unbridled generosity will be carried on by those he leaves behind, as well as the many lives of those he touched during his remarkable 84 years of life. He will be deeply missed by all his friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Darrell Williams; one grandson, Daniel Thomas; all of his sisters and brother; and several nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his wife, Ruth; two sons, Dennis Williams and wife, Melanie of Red Rock, OK, Don Williams of Perry, OK; two daughters, Denise Case and husband, Sam of Marland, OK, Dee Ann Thomas and husband, Mark of Perry, OK; eleven grandchildren, Gary Williams and wife, Beckey of Red Rock, Darrin Williams and wife, Kristin of Red Rock, Jan Shiever and husband, Mitch of Edmond, Marty Williams and wife, Crystal of Red Rock, Megan Ripley and husband, Danny of Lela, OK, Mindy Kiser and husband, Kelly of Cleveland, Tennessee, Matt Case and Wyatt Case of Marland, Ok. Jennifer Shields and husband, Tyson of Tonkawa, OK, Dallan Thomas and Darrell Thomas of Perry, OK; and nine great grandchildren. The family encourages memorial contributions to be made to the M. H. Williams Noble County 4-H and FFA Scholarship in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, 203 Fir Street. Perry, OK 73077. This scholarship will be directed toward children with a passionate interest in agriculture and livestock. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Mark Sanders, Gene and Lisa Sanders, and Gale Kincaid for the many years of help and support to M. H. and the Williams family.
