Margaret Ann Coate

Margaret Coate, age 91, of Perkins passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 27, 2021, in Perkins, Oklahoma.
She was born on October 30, 1930, in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Jake and Zula (Ellis) Henderson. Margaret grew up in Weatherford. She was a 1948 graduate of Liberty Center High School. Margaret met the love of her life, Burton R. Coate. They were united in marriage on November 10, 1948 at Burton’s sister’s house in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They were blessed with 73 years.
Margaret had a love for sewing and traveling. Spending time with her family was always a highlight she looked forward to.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Zula Henderson; four brothers, James Henderson, Bobby Henderson, Joe Henderson, Tommie Henderson; two sisters, Sallie Vogt, Lucille Lake; one grandson, Chris Davis; and two Son-in-law, Patrick McKay, and Ray Gazaway.
Margaret is survived by her husband , Burton Coate, of the home; five children, Patricia McKay Cushing, Oklahoma, Elaine Coate of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Rita Vogt and husband Jim of Cushing, Oklahoma, Richard Coate and wife Janice of Perkins, Oklahoma, Cathryn Gazaway of Perkins, Oklahoma; her sister Iona and husband Lenard Hensley; her grandchildren, Jami Vogt, Jarrod Vogt, Laura Jenkins and husband Jason, Amy Coomer and husband Michael, Darla Baker-Hurst and boyfriend Aaron Behrenbrinker, Jessica Moye; thirteen great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday December 31, 2021, at Dighton Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, with Pastor Chad Handy officiating. Interment will follow at the Perkins Cemetery, in Perkins.
