Mary Sue Raper

December 19, 1929 — July 23, 2006

On July 23rd, an angel was sent to escort Mary Sue Raper to her heavenly home. She asked family and friends she left behind not to feel sad, for she was joining loved ones whom had already passed on. Service are entrusted to Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home.
Sue Raper, age 76, was born to Tom and Mary Robinson Ramsey on December 19th, 1929 in Yale, Oklahoma. She attended school in Quay, Oklahoma, and was valedictorian of her class. She married Ralph Dawes and they made their home in Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, and Oklahoma. They had two children, Debbie and Tom.
After returning to Oklahoma, Sue worked at the OSU Student Union. She married T.K. Raper on December 30th, 1968. They owned and ran TKs Drive-in and the Americana Restaurant. She then went to work in the payroll department of Mercury Marine, from which she retired in 1995.
Sue was a member of Calvary Assembly of God for 20 years. She served in many capacities, including teaching and helping with the Kings Kids and Missionettes program. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:19, And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. She lived by this scripture and was greatly blessed by many healings both physically and emotionally. Her hearts desire was always for everyone to turn to the Lord and give their hearts and lives to Him.
Sue opened her home and heart to many. She raised her nieces as her own. After retirement, she became Nanny to Gracie and Mattie from the day they were born. They both were loved as if they were her own granddaughters. She was Mother to many and Nanny to all.
She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Deborah and Rick Mangum of Yale, and her son and his wife, Tom and Anita Dawes of Perkins; her niece and her husband, Becky and Mitch Orr of Newkirk; her stepmother, Cecil Ramsey; her sister and her husband, Kay and Joe Smith of Cushing; her brother and his wife, Jim and Phyllis Ramsey of Cushing; and stepchildren, Larry Raper, Cynthia Hamilton, and Susan Raper.
She is also survived by her great joy in life, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Mark and Jill Prather and their children, Ty and Liesl of Stillwater; Trevor and Soveida Prather and their children, Clayton and Jesse of Farmers Branch, TX; Kimberly and David Jones and their children, Maggie, Matt and Lexie of Carrolton, TX; Trent and Amanda Dawes and their children, Makayla, Trace, Stephanie, Melanie and Tanner of Perkins; Travis and Olivia Dawes and their children, Cheyenne, Logan, Tucker and Lacey of Glencoe.
Sue was preceded in death by her mother, her father, one brother, one sister, and one great granddaughter, Tori Smith.
Sue was loved and will be greatly missed by all. After a great earthly life of service to the Lord and witnessing to others, she is now smiling over all of us.
Services for Sue Raper will be held at 10:00 on Thursday, July 27th, 2006 at Calvary Assembly of God Church. Pastor Rusty Rhoads will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home.
