Max Leroy Driskel

October 10, 1936 — April 26, 2009

Max Leroy Driskel, 72, of Stillwater passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at his home in Stillwater surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, May 1, 2009 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home with Mr. Harvey Myers officiating. Interment will be in Lawson Cemetery, Yale, OK. Family will greet friends Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 6:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater.
Max was born on October 10, 1936 in Ingalls, OK to Claude Driskel and Rachael (Reddout) Driskel. He married Betty Breazzeal on June 29, 1954 in Fort Smith, AR. He grew up and attended schools in Glencoe and surrounding areas. He was a very respectful young high school pitcher. He worked for Harley Thomas Ford as a mechanic and Swan Hose and retired from Thomas N. Berry. Max served seven years on the Board of Commissioners for the Stillwater Housing Authority. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, and canning. He got great enjoyment being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Rachael Driskel; and one brother, Darold.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Driskel; four children: Maxie and Vickie Driskel of Molina, GA, Danny and Kelly Driskel of Yale, OK, Lisa and Rex Shell of Glencoe, OK, and Susan and Randy Few of Stillwater, OK; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; six siblings: Claudette and David Burr of Hixson, TN, Harold and Barbara Driskel of Wellston, OK, Bill and Lynn Driskel of Rockport, TX, Carolyn and Byron Loucks of Stillwater, OK, Cathy and Robert Sumpter of Stillwater, OK, and Cheryl and Jay Jeffrey of Glencoe, OK; and numerous other family members and friends.
Maxs grandsons, Brion Driskel, Derek Driskel, Bradley Driskel, Daniel Driskel, Ryan Driskel, Barrick Hesser, Garrett Young, and Robin Carney will serve as pallbearers.
His family wishes to sincerely thank Judith Karman Hospice for their devotion and support.
