Maxine C. Richards

Maxine C. Richards, age 83, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on March 4, 2022, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

She was born on August 31, 1938, north of Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Floyd and Mildred (Vassar) Wheatley. She graduated from C.E. Donart High School in Stillwater. Maxine met the love of her life, Terrall Richards, of 63 years at a drive-in BBQ stand. They were united in marriage on October 3, 1958. To this union they had one daughter, Athena (Richards) Frank.

For over 30 years, she worked for the Oklahoma Department of Labor in several capacities including counselor, monitor, and director. Maxine enjoyed spending time with her family, attending school activities, and traveling to several states and countries with her husband, daughter, and grandchildren. She loved the quiet country life and helping run the family cattle operation north of Glencoe for several years.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Mildred Wheatley.

Maxine is survived by her husband of the home; daughter, Athena, and husband Lyle Frank of Glencoe, OK; and two grandchildren, Kelsey Frank of Glencoe, OK, and Kyle Frank of The Woodlands, TX.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM with family greeting guests from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Dighton-Marler Funeral Home Chapel, 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK 74075. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater, with Reverend Larry Eslinger officiating.
