Nina Christine Hood Rodgers

Nina Christine Hood Rodgers, age 79, of Cushing, Oklahoma was called home to be with her Savior, the Lord, Jesus Christ, on September 30, 2011 at her home in Cushing, Oklahoma. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, OK and will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Chapel of Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater, Ok. and interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, OK with Pastor David Robinson officiating.
Family will greet friends at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday evening.
Nina was born on December 15, 1931, to Arthur Monroe and Nellie Burger McFarlin in Agra, where she was raised and educated. She was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the FirstBorn by Brother Claude Greenfield on July 1, 1947 in Tulare, California. She married Roy C. "R.C." Hood on May 25th, 1950 in Cushing, OK and lived in and around Cushing before settling south of Ripley, where R.C. worked on a dairy and for the Cushing Plumbing and later, together, they owned and operated Hood's Upholstery until his death on July 15, 1991. She later moved to Cushing in 1993 where she resided until she married Harold Rodgers and moved to Enid for a short time, but then returned to her own home where she has resided since. She has enjoyed crocheting for many years and her gifts are still proudly displayed in many of our homes, she loved working word puzzles, playing dominoes, and working in her flower gardens. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Nellie McFarlin, her husband, R.C. Hood, one son, Ronald C. Hood, 3 grandchildren, John and Sandra Hood, Justin Focht; 4 brothers, James McFarlin, Henry McFarlin, Clarence McFarlin, and Arthur Art McFarlin; and 3 sisters, Thelma Sis Wittman, Ervie Murch, and Sarah Linder Carmichael.
Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Charlene and Larry Focht of Cushing, OK; Linda Wood and Jay Wood of Ripley, OK; Brenda and David Robinson of Enid, OK; and Rose and Allen Busch of Mountain View, AR.; 15 grandchildren and 21 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 sisters, Mary Rains and husband Leo of Ripley, OK; Faye Pruitt of Agra, OK; and Ollie Rossiter Quinn of Dexter, Oregon; and 2 brothers, Lee RayMcFarlin, of Cleveland, OK, and Loyal Bud McFarlin of Tryon, OK and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She will be greatly missed by all, as she has often opened her home up to the visiting brethren and relatives and always managed to fix a meal even when it seemed there was nothing in the house to fix.
