Patricia Carol Freeman

October 5, 1946 — December 14, 2011

Patricia Carol Freeman, 65, of Perkins, went to be with her Lord on December 14, 2011 with her family by her side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perkins and will be held 10:00 Monday, December 19th at Immanuel Baptist Church in Perkins. Burial will follow at 3:00pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery in McAlester. Visitation will be held from 1:00-6:00pm on Sunday and the family will greet friends at the funeral home located at 304 N. Main in Perkins from 4:00-6:00pm.

Pat was born on October 5, 1946 in McAlester, OK to Charles Wilburn Freeman and Emmie Mae Wagoner Freeman. She grew up and attended schools in the McAlester area. Following her graduation from McAlester High School, she began working as a quality control specialist at the U.S. Army Munitions Plant. After 10 years of service, Patricia left the plant and spent several years working at the Pittsburg County courthouse. She later accepted a position with the City of McAlester utility department. Pat spent more than 30 years serving the residents of McAlester before retiring as the Utility Office Supervisor in 2007.

Following her retirement, Pat moved to Perkins to be closer to her family. She became very active in the Immanuel Baptist Church and the Cimmaron Valley Home and Community Economics group. She loved to cook, crochet, garden, and attend church. Pat was a witty and caring woman who enjoyed listening and helping friends through difficult situations. She was very thoughtful and became known as Patty Cake by the other McAlester municipal employees because she was always making cakes for her co-workers to enjoy.

Pat valued her family more than anything. She was the oldest of 6 children and was considered to be the family caretaker. Making Pat smile was not difficult, simply mentioning the name of one of her grandsons would light-up her face every time. Pat was a wonderful woman who impacted the lives of many people and she will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son David Freeman and wife Kanice, of Perkins. Two grandsons: Stetson and Roper Freeman, of Perkins. Three Brothers: Charles "Bud" Freeman and wife Debbie, of Wilburton, OK, Rick Freeman of Arlington, TX, and Larry Freeman of Angola, LA. Two sisters: Linda Kelley and husband John, of McAlester, and Cathy Carlile and husband Mike, of Jackson, LA. She is also survived by her aunt Martha Bolash of Lubbock, TX, her aunt Audrey Stewart of McAlester, OK, and numerous neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Pats honor to Immanuel Baptist Church at 2415 East 104th Street Perkins, OK 74059.
