Paul Donavan

Paul C. Donavan, age 83, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 6, 2015. He is now enjoying his new life in Heaven. He was born on June 13, 1931 in Larned, Kansas, to Edward and Pauline Donavan.
Paul was reared in Belpre, Kansas, and lived there until he moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma A&M College. He graduated with his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Communications and his Masters of Science in Agronomy. He was a member of the Oklahoma A&M College ROTC program, receiving his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant, United States Army Reserve, in 1953. He then wed Mary Jo Warner, of Dodge City, Kansas, on February 5th, 1954. They divorced in 1980.
He spent over 30 years working for Oklahoma A&M College/Oklahoma State University. His positions included working in the offices of Public Information and Agricultural Publications. He served as Chief Editor of Agricultural Publications Extensions. In conjunction with his work at OSU, Paul served his country in the United States Army Reserve. He quickly moved up the ranks to eventually retire as a Full Colonel. He achieved this rank at the young age of 42.
In 1980 Paul married Dana McCoy. They were wed until her passing in 2011.
Paul is preceded in death by his brother Edward Donavan. He is survived by his sisters, Marsha Williamson and Peggy Denton; his daughter, Cheryl and husband, Steve Holloway, of Broken Arrow; son Bruce Donavan and wife, Kit, of Stillwater; grandson Chad Toupin, wife Maggie, and daughters Lilly and Annabelle; grandson Corbin Donavan and wife Aly; and grandson Connor Donavan.
Paul lived in Stillwater for 66 years of his life. He was an active member of University Heights Baptist Church. Paul had other interests that included serving as a leader for the Boy Scouts of America, coaching little league baseball, and being an avid supporter for the Oklahoma State Cowboy wrestling program.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, on Saturday, May 9 at University Heights Baptist Church in Stillwater. There will also be a time of condolence with the family on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Palmer Marler Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pauls name can be made to Boy Scout Troop 1828, Stillwater, Oklahoma.
