May 17, 1940 — March 2, 2021

Phyllis Mae Brown, 80, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at her home in Stillwater. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 9:00am to 8:00pm at Dighton Marler Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10:00am at Dighton Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater. Phyllis was born on May 17, 1940 at Yost Lake outside of Stillwater, Oklahoma to James Joseph “Curly” and Hazel E. (Dunivan) Donovan. Phyllis grew up in Stillwater and went to school at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School and Eureka High School. Phyllis married the love of her life, Joel “Joe” Brown, on April 24, 1958 in Tyrone, Oklahoma. They began their life together travelling the country for various jobs and eventually settled in Commerce City, Colorado where Phyllis was first a homemaker and then owned the Big A restaurant. In 1979, Joe and Phyllis relocated their family back to Stillwater where he owned many small businesses and she held a position at Swan Hose in Stillwater and positions at The Whistle Stop and Delmar’s in Perkins. Phyllis treated all of her positions as a mission field and would take any opportunity to minister to those she came in contact with. In May 1991, she graduated from Rhema Bible College in Tulsa and taught classes at Victory Bible College in Stillwater. In 1992, she became the Pastor at Victory Christian Center in Stillwater and served in that capacity for 27 years. The number of lives she touched over that time while performing weddings, baptisms, funerals, dedications, or just in everyday conversations at gas stations, grocery lines, or grandkid events has to be in the thousands. Phyllis loved the Lord and it showed in her life each and every day.
Phyllis was the most caring Mother, loving wife, loyal sister, fun Grandma and compassionate friend to so many. Her greatest joy came from family events, church gatherings, spending time with those she loved and most of all spreading the word of Jesus Christ.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, Joe, parents Curly and Hazel, twin sister Patricia Benes, sisters Colleen Donovan and Lorraine Akin, brothers Gene and Jim Donovan, and her son-in-law Rick Perry.
Phyllis is survived by her children Donna Perry, Deana Devine and husband Johnnie, Teresa Brown, and Jim Brown and wife Tracie, all of Stillwater, Oklahoma. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Steven, Ryan, Whitney, Kayla, Tanner, Jace, and Jack and eleven great grandchildren, Stephanie, Samantha, Sylus, Emi, David, Ethan, Everly, Isabella, Lilly, Wylee, and Gus. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Ruth Woolworth and husband Wesley, sister-in-laws Oleta “Bill” Donovan, Sallie Brown and Noreen Brown, and brother-in-laws Edward Benes and Laverne Bradley.
Phyllis was a true prayer warrior who often said “God is Good” and she always released her congregation with “Go with God he goes with you!” And Phyllis has done just that…she has gone with God and is rejoicing with Him in heaven!
