Rawland Dee Courtney

August 19, 1937 — February 3, 2022

Rawland Dee Courtney was born August 19, 1937, in Stillwater, Oklahoma to DeWayne and Wilma (Stewart) Courtney. His faith became reality on Thursday morning, February 3, 2022, when he heard his heavenly father say well done my faithful servant, welcome home.

Dee attended Stillwater Public Schools and then O.S.U. where he obtained his associate degree in Civil Engineering. He and Nancy Long were married January 28, 1956, in Perry. Dee worked for the Department of transportation from 1956 until his retirement in 1995. He was a vivid supporter of his daughters, grandkids and great-grandkids. He also supported the Perry Maroons sports teams. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was active in the Assembly of God Church. Some of Dee’s hobbies included collecting John Deer tractor figurines, working in his yard, and traveling with Nancy and other close friends to enjoy some OU football.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Nancy of the home; two daughters, Debbie Schroeder and husband Steve of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Deann Evans and husband Steven of Alma, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Jason Schroeder and wife Chelsey of Pauls Valley, Ok., John Schroeder and Marcella Rodrigues of Tulsa, Erin Cochran and husband Justin of Ft. Smith, AR, and Brian Evans and Kaley Moore of Ft. Smith, AR; four great-grandchildren, Heidi Schroeder, Gretchen Schroeder, Dawson Evans, and Harrison Cochran; sister, Gwen Meadows and husband David of Rush Springs, OK; brother, Donny Chapman and wife Sherry of Perkins, OK; two step-brothers, Jimmy Chapman of Coleman, OK., and Loyd Chapman of Waxahachi, TX; Two bonus daughters, Barbara Bass and Capricia Betchan and her daughter Olivia. numerous nieces, nephew, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Lee Courtney; a step-sister, Alta Chapman Donahue; step-brothers, Jerry Chapman; and step-father, Leonard Chapman; a niece, Trina Meadows Lively.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 9, 2022, from 9AM to 8PM at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Perry. Family will greet guests from 6PM to 8PM. Funeral service will be 10AM Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the Assembly of God church in Perry with Rev. Ester Bass and Rev. Bret Nation officiating. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Perry.

Family requests that memorial donations be made to the Perry High School Softball or Karman legacy Hospice in c/o Dighton-Marler Funeral Home, P.O. Box 189, Perry, Ok., 73077.

The family would also like to thank the healthcare workers, Dr Hartwigs office, and the staff at the Perry Hospital for their care they have given Dee. A special thanks to Shon Tetik.
