Robert Lee Ridenour

Robert Corky Lee Ridenour, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 82. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK and will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, Cushing, OK.
The son of the late Ira C. and Rudy (Croslin) Ridenour, Corky was born on July 20, 1928 in Seminole, OK. He was reared and educated in Drumright, graduating from Drumright High School with the class of 1946 where he was the Golden Gloves Champion of Drumright. He moved to Cushing in the late 1940s. Corky married Ollie Evelyn Boles on October 30, 1965 in Sapulpa. The couple then moved to Dallas where Corky worked in the Dallas metro-plex area as a commercial building superintendant. Corky later built and owned one bowling alley in Vivian, LA, he also owned a bowling alley and skating rink in Shreveport, Louisiana. The couple then moved back to Cushing in 1977. He opened Mr. Rs Cabinet Shop. During that time he helped design and build the Cushing High School Auditorium. Corky also drove a semi truck coast to coast for SMX Trucking. Following his work with SMX he began working for Parker Drilling out of Tulsa. This job took him overseas to such places as Sudan, Egypt, Cairo and many other places in Africa and throughout Europe where he was a production supervisor. He later owned and operated Ridenours Kerr McGee full service station which was located at the corner of Main Street and Linwood Avenue in Cushing. In his spare time, he was an avid bowler, enjoyed fishing and hunting pheasant and quail with his bird dogs. He even said on several occasions that there wasnt a good dog unless it was a bird dog and that I would rather fish, than eat, when Im hungry.
He is survived by his wife Ollie of the home; children Gaylynn Hall of Drumright, ReNae Wood of Tulsa, Prisci Loveland and husband Steve of Cushing, Mark Driggs and wife Julie of Oklahoma City, Dirk Ridenour and wife Kimmy of Cushing, and Rudy Ridenour and wife Tina of Cushing; brothers Harold Red Ridenour of Sedona, AZ, and Ike Ridenour of Albuquerque, NM; 17 grandchildren, Joshalyn, Sheli, Kristin, Shelli, Jana, Kerrigan, Melissa, Gregory, Gentry, Jennifer, Derek, Jace, Rylie, Ryan, Nash, Nevan, and Natalie; 22 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces nephews other relatives and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, four brothers, and grandson Riley Heck.
