Sally Johnson, age 73, of Stillwater, passed from this life early Wednesday morning, March 5, 2008 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2008 at the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stillwater with the Reverend Sally Houck officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Johnson was born on January 31, 1935 in Akron, Ohio. Sally was the daughter of Chester Eugene and Ruth Gladys (Schellin) Shamel. She grew up in Ohio and moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1969. Sally lived in Stillwater until 1975 when she moved to Tennessee. She returned to Stillwater in 1981, and later moved to Holiday Island, Arkansas in 1994. She moved back to Stillwater in 2004. She was a homemaker and a member of the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Stillwater. She enjoyed cooking, playing bridge, and was a member of the sewing group at Salem Lutheran. She was Choir Director at Salem for many years and also Choir Director at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tennessee. She loved making gifts for her grandchildren. On October 9, 1955, she was united in marriage to Ronald Roy Johnson in Wooster, Ohio and he preceded her in death in April of 2001.
Sally is survived by her son, Scott Johnson and wife Lisa of Roanoke, Texas; two daughters, Melissa Burrows and Jennifer Johnson, both of Stillwater; a brother, Phillip Shamel and wife Jackie of Denton, Texas; five grandchildren, Kara Lawson, Ashton Budewig, Austin Budewig, Hailey Johnson, Brendan Johnson and one great grandson, Dakota Alexander.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter, Denetia Johnson, a brother John and a grandson Aaron Budewig.
