July 6, 1937 — June 5, 2015

Sharon Lee Pittser, 77, of Tryon, passed peacefully from this life on June 5, 2015 at Stillwater Medical Center with her family by her side. Sharon Lee Welch was born on July 6, 1937 in Anaheim, CA to David and Velma (Stull) Welch. She was raised and educated in the Santa Anna, CA area. Following her graduation from high school, Sharon married Virgil Earl Lee Pittser in 1955 and they had three beautiful children together. In 1973, the family relocated to Crescent City, CA before ultimately moving to Tryon, OK in 1992. Virgil Pittser passed away in 1997. Sharon worked various small jobs before being offered a job babysitting for her grandchildren while their parents worked long hours.
Sharon was a strong and loving woman of God whose beautiful smile and pleasant demeanor drew people to her for advice and an encouraging word. She was a long-time member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn and she really enjoyed the fellowship she found there. She loved reading, doing crossword puzzles, and watching movies. Sharon was never happier than when she was around her grandchildren. She was born to be a grandma and she played a vital role in the upbringing of several of her younger grandchildren. Sharon never missed an opportunity to support her grandchildren at their ball games and events. Normally a quiet and reserved woman, Sharon could transform into a ruthless super fan when circumstances called for it.
Sharon Pittser was a kind and optimistic woman who didnt complain about her circumstances or her illness. She battled cancer with a grace and sense of peace that only comes from knowing the Lord. She has touched many lives during her 77 years of life and she will truly be missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of selflessness and unbridled compassion will live on through the lives of those she leaves behind.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents David and Velma Welch, her husband Virgil Pittser, and a brother Sheldon Welch.
She is survived by her three children: Rick Pittser and wife Kimberly of Tecumseh, OK. Sharlene Stewart and husband Jeff of Stillwater, OK. Velma Majors and husband Travis of Perkins, OK. Nine grandchildren: Bryce and Tyler Mason, Zach and Abigail Majors, Sean and Scott Stewart, Gaylene Johnson, Travis Heggen, and Paul Pittser. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren, and various siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
