Shirley I Mitchell

May 4, 1938 — June 24, 2016

Shirley Ione (Anderson) Mitchell formerly of Glencoe, OK passed away June 24, 2016 in
Henrietta, TX. Shirley was born in Tonkawa, OK on May 4, 1938 to Chester Thomas and
Flora Belle (Prince) Anderson. Soon after her birth in Tonkawa, the family moved to
Glencoe, OK where she grew up on the Anderson Farm and attended Glencoe Public
Schools.



Shirley worked for many years for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Dallas, Texas. She went
back to school and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1970 with a degree in
library sciences and worked as a librarian for Altamont Public Schools in Altamont, KS. In
1973, Shirley returned home to the family farm in Glencoe, OK to live with and care for her
father after the passing of her mother. Shirley and Allen worked together in real estate and
insurance in the Stillwater area. She helped found the Methodist Protestant Church in
Glencoe. She and Allen Dee moved to Henrietta, TX in 2014 to live closer to family.



Shirley married Allen Dee Mitchell of Bethany, OK in June 25, 1994 after Allens first wife of 42years, Neva Faye (Anderson) Mitchell, passed away in 1993. Shirley is preceded in death
by her husband, Allen Dee, parents, Chester Thomas and Flora Belle (Prince) Anderson.
two brothers, Eugene Harold and Leo Chester, and four sisters, Neva Faye Mitchell, Beulah
Eva Neumann, Grace Irene Corley and Ellen Louise Anderson. Shirley leaves behind many
nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.



Shirley will be laid to rest beside Allen at a graveside service on June 30, 2016 at 1:00p.m.
