Stephen Earl Calvert was born Jan 18, 1941 in Tulsa to Corwin and Florine (Easley) Calvert. He graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa in 1959 and enrolled in Tulsa University where he pursued an accounting degree. He later worked for Grigsbys Carpets in Tulsa before beginning careers in construction and insurance sales, which he enjoyed for over four decades. On April 9, 1982 Steve married the love of his life, Sharon Whitehouse and the couple would enjoy 34 years of marriage before Steves passing.
In 2003, Steve retired from his career in sales which gave him much more time for the things he loved to do. He enjoyed watching Verdigris High school football games and jazz band concerts, as well as traveling to Dodge City, Estes Park, Eureka Springs, Branson, The Rocky and Smoky Mountains. Steve was very proud of the fact that he traveled to 22 different Bass Pro Shops in a 6 month period and obtained a t-shirt from each location along the way. During his free time he could often be found golfing, watching Kansas City Chiefs football, or fishing Claremore or Pumpback Lake with his cousin Buddy. He was also a huge fan of Marshall Dillon and Walker, Texas Ranger. He also enjoyed talking Pigeon Stories with his nephew, Carlton Reneau and laughing and singing with his sister Shari.
Steve was an outgoing man who loved to laugh and always enjoyed life to the fullest. Some of his favorite times were the yearly gatherings with his Time Flies Party friends, a tight-knit group of high school classmates who met up to eat together and reminisce about the good old days.
It was no secret that nothing brought more happiness than being surrounded by his wife and family. In 2015 they relocated to Stillwater to be closer to their family. Steve and Sharon shared a profound love for each other and always supported each other through the trials of life. They were as in love with each other on their last day together as they were on their first day together. Steve also loved his children deeply and was extremely proud of who they had become. He was especially proud of his daughter BJ for obtaining her black belt in karate and his daughter Stephanie for serving our country with the Army National Guard, deploying to Afghanistan and graduating from Oklahoma State University. He was also very proud of both of his daughters for the mothers and wives they have become to their families.
Steve Calvert was a dedicated husband, a protective father, a loving grandpa, and a loyal friend and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Ron Calvert. He is survived by his wife Sharon Calvert of Stillwater; three children and two step children: son, Scott Calvert and wife Jeanette of Tulsa, daughter, Stephanie Williams and husband Josh of Stillwater, and BJ Brewer and husband Curtis of Boise, ID. Step daughters Julie Shiles and husband Scott of Colleyville, TX and Melissa Smith of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by his sister Sharon Reneau and husband Val of Lindsay, OK, as well as three grandchildren: Ariana Brewer of Boise, Idaho, Justice Williams and Amelia Williams of Stillwater, OK.
