Stewart "Shorty" Collier

Stewart Berrie "Shorty" Collier, 92 of Frisco, Texas, formerly of Perry, went to be with the Lord on January 28, 2014, with his family by his side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perry and a memorial service will be held at the funeral home chapel on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Roger Dunn officiating. Interment will follow at the McGuire Cemetery in Lucien, Oklahoma. Shorty was born on January 27, 1922 in Texas to Allen and Carrie Collier. He grew up and attended schools in the Brownfield, TX area. Following high school, Shorty spent several years serving his country honorably in the US Navy. He was married to Velma Jean (Snyder) Collier and celebrated 38 years of marriage before her passing in 2011. The Collier family spent wonderful many years living in Perry, OK. While living in Perry, Shorty was the groundskeeper for the Cherokee Strip Museum and Velma worked at the local Perry Chamber of Commerce. In the mid to late 90"s, the family relocated to Frisco, TX to retire and be near their family. Shorty was a simple man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and most outdoor activities. He will be missed by all who knew him. Shorty is survived by a son, Berrie Collier and his wife, Betty of Leonard, TX; a daughter, Terry Crook of China Spring, TX; three step daughters, Janet Parker of Carrollton, TX, Debbie Porr of Lubbock, TX and Lisa Malone of Frisco, TX; nine grand children; four great grand children with the fifth one on the way; two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Dowell and Virginia Richardson of Perry; and countless of nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Velma J. (Snyder) Collier; his parents Allen and Carrie Collier; and a brother Pate Collier.
