Thelma Evelyn Smith

Thelma Smith, age 94, of Noble, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. She was born February 11, 1922 in Maramec, Oklahoma to Riley and Mae Willard. She was the oldest daughter of seven siblings,. She enjoyed traveling (went to China once). She was a good cook (made gooey-good cinnamon rolls, etc). She loved her family and friends (never met a stranger). She liked to fish, campout, raised flowers, and became a Thunder fan until she lost her hearing. She loved life. She was active in her church where she lived including FBC of Yale, FBC of Weatherford, FBC of Perkins, and FBC of Noble.
Thelma married Roy Olive on August 6, 1938. They made their home in Yale, where they raised two children, Don and Phyllis. Roy passed away in 1979. In 1984 she married Nova Smith and moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma. After Nova passed away in 1995, she moved to Perkins, Oklahoma to be near sisters Bonny and Maxine. In 2009 she moved to Noble.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Smith and husband Paul of Noble; Daughter-in-law, Debbie Olive of Grove; grandchildren, Mark Smith and wife, Tammie of Dewey, Janna Smith of Norman, Shannon Smith of Duncan; great grandchildren, Ashlee Chapman and husband Jeff, Andy Smith, Zoe Smith, Zane Smith; great-great grandchildren, Londyn and Madelyn Chapman; plus many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, all siblings, and son, Don Olive. Thelma loved and was loved by family and many friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church in Yale. Interments will follow at the Lawson Cemetery in Yale.
