Tommie L. Presley

July 23, 1946 — February 17, 2021

Tommie Lorane Davis Presley was born on July 23, 1946 to Leo Lorane Davis & Rosie Lillian Gwinup at the corner of 9th & Noble Streets, in Perry, OK. She passed from this earthly life into the sweet Loving Arms of Jesus Christ our Lord on Wednesday, February 17th, 2021 at the age of 74. She went to heaven peacefully, whole, and healed.
Her father, Leo Davis, was a truck driver and a Diesel Mechanic for Smith Trucking. Leo worked in many areas of Oklahoma. Before retiring, he was Vice President of Fleet Sales in Perry. Tommie and the family traveled all over the state of Oklahoma, but she always called Laverne, home. She had many special friends and fond memories in Laverne, although she graduated from Hennessey High School 1964.
She met the love of her life, Jerry, in Hennessey while working at a Café. After a few months of courtship ,they were married May 7, 1966. Together they raised 4 children: Darrin, Derek, Dena, and Dustin. After living in Oklahoma City, they moved to Perry in 1972. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church since 1972.
Tommie was an incredibly beautiful woman inside and out. She had a beautiful smile, laugh and gorgeous penmanship. She was soft spoken, faithful and a hard worker. Tommie worked long hours but still made sure Dad and the kids were taken care of. There were times her parents, brother or family friends would show up unannounced or the kids would invite friends over for supper; she obliged and never complained. Her favorite times were cooking for her family and friends.
The second loves of her life were her grandkids. She was the grandma that had shirts and sweatshirts with their names on them and a huge collection of photos always at the ready. She always tried to stay as active as she could in their lives. Tommie's favorite holiday was Christmas and she loved celebrating at her house. When she wasn’t working or caring for her family, she found time to play cards. Tommie and Jerry were known to have a get together on the weekends and played cards into the morning.
Tommie excelled in her career field, but she mastered raising a family. She worked a full-time job along while raising four kids. There were challenges, but she handled it all very well, with a great attitude, strength, endurance, and patience. Over her career, she worked at Triton Insurance, Perry; Lloyd Jones, Perry; Green Light, Perry where she was able to work alongside Jerry for many years. They moved to Valley Center, KS in 1986. Tommie was employed at Carlson Company, Park City, KS; a Title Company in Wichita, KS; and finally, the City of Valley Center as the Assistant City Clerk.
