Velma Marie Snodgrass

August 10, 1927 — April 4, 2010

Velma Marie (Murren) Snodgrass, 82 of Perry, Oklahoma went home to her Lord on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Perry Memorial Hospital. On the 10th Day of August, 1927, in Valley township, Page County, Iowa, Velma was born to Earl P. and Edith Janet (Riggle) Murren. As Velma grew, she attended schools in Clarinda, Iowa. On June 24, 1970 she married Glen W. Snodgrass, who survives. Velma spent most of her life helping others through her work in nursing as a CMA & CNA. Independent and strong, Velma loved to serve the Lord and her favorite pastime was singing her favorite hymns and church songs as well as spending time with family and friends. Velma is survived by 5 children: Edie J. Prouty and her husband Ron of Gorhan, New Hampshire; Earl N. Hunt, Sr. and his wife, Arletta of Woodward, OK; Helen Davis, LeeRoy (Butch) Hunt and his wife June, and Euther Copeland, all of Perry; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 10 step-children, 25 step-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Charlotte Mallott and her husband, Sheridan, of Omaha, NE; Maxine Anderson of Omaha, NE; Evelyn Briegge and her husband Eddie of New Market, IA. In addition she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends, who will dearly miss her presence. Velma was preceded in death by her father, Earl Murren in 1984, her mother, Edith Murren in 1972, an infant daughter on Jan. 24, 1946, brothers, Cleo, Clifford and Larry Murren and a sister, Lorraine Miller. Family visitation will be Tuesday , April 6th from 6pm to 8pm at Perry Funeral Home, 203 E. Fir. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 7th, 2010 at 10:00am at the Grace Hill Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Willie Anderson officiating.
