Virginia Carpenter Albright was born August 3, 1928 in Bellefontaine, OH to Fredrick Earl Carpenter and Susie LeVan. She grew up and attended schools in the Bellefontaine area. Following high school, Virginia spent several years employed with Westinghouse Electronics. During WWII, she got a job putting stickers on military equipment and vehicles. In the early 1950s, she met a young soldier stationed at the nearby Campbell Hill Military Base. In 1952, she married the love of her life and best friend, Don Albright, a marriage that lasted over 59 years.
In 1969, the Albright family relocated to a family homestead acquired in the Land Run of 1889 in Perkins, OK. Virginia quickly took over the duties of caring for her sick and aging relatives. Don and Virginia joined the Eden Chapel Church, where Virginia served on several committees and was in the church choir. She also volunteered many hours serving the needs of patients and their families at Stillwater Medical Center.
Virginia was a caring and generous woman who was not shy about sharing her possessions or her opinion. She loved to cook and enjoyed feeding those in need. She enjoyed going to garage sales and always purchased several of the same item so that she could give them to a friend in need. Virginia was an animal lover with a fondness for dogs, cats, and horses. She spent many hours sewing Love Bears, which the church gave to the police and fire departments and the hospital, who gave the bears to hurting children. Virginias hobbies included spending winters in Arizona, cooking, gardening, camping, and spending time with her family. She loved to ice skate, an activity she enjoyed into her sixties. She was a big-hearted and remarkable woman who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Virginia is survived by her husband Don, of the home. Three children: Sharon Reames and husband Larry, of Stillwater, Ed Albright and wife Marla, of Carney, and Larry Albright of Perkins. Three grandchildren: Ryan Reames, Haley Albright Machetta, and Gavin Albright. Three great grandchildren: Kali Brown, Abbigayle Machetta, and Logan Machetta. A brother, Kenneth Carpenter and wife Libby, of Bellefontainee, OH. A sister: Eileen Kemp and husband Art, of Bellefontainee, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Carl Carpenter.
